Jan Kamphuis, Sanford Health vice president of patient care services, graduated from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks with a bachelor of science in nursing. She received her master's degree in nursing administration from the University of Mary and a Ph.D. from the University of North Dakota. She has been a certified nurse administrator since 1994.
Kamphuis has been at Medcenter One since 1980 when she began as a staff nurse in the emergency room. She has also served as house supervisor, director of the emergency and trauma center and vice president of nursing. Before coming to Medcenter One, Kamphuis worked at United Hospital in Grand Forks and Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City, Iowa.
She is a member of the National Management Association Medcenter One chapter, Sigma Theta Tau, the American Nurse's Association, the North Dakota Council on Nursing, the VHA Upper Midwest Nurse Executive Committee and the VHA National Nursing Leadership Council.
Kamphuis has received numerous awards and has been published in various publications during her career. She also serves her community as a member of her church's finance committee, an adjunct faculty member at Medcenter One College of Nursing and the University of Mary, Bismarck, N.D.
