Sanford Bismarck re-designated as Bariatric Center of Excellence

(Bismarck, N.D.)—The Bismarck region of Sanford Health recently received re-designation as a Bariatric Surgery Center® of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery. The first designation came in 2006. This accreditation acknowledges Sanford Health’s commitment to providing quality improvement and patient safety for bariatric surgery patients. It also demonstrates a facility’s ability to meet the needs of bariatric surgery patients by providing multidisciplinary, high-quality, patient-centered care. Certification is valid for a three-year term.

Sanford Bismarck has two weight-loss surgeons: Steven Bock, MD, and Bree Dewing, MD. Together, they have more than 25 years of experience in metabolic and bariatric surgery. The Bismarck region of Sanford Health is also a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery.

To learn more, visit or attend a weight-loss surgery information session. The next weight-loss surgery information session in Bismarck is Tuesday, April 22, in the third floor conference room of the UND Building, 701 E. Rosser Ave. An information session is also being held in Jamestown Wednesday, April 9, at the Quality Inn & Suites, 507 25th St. W. To register, call (701) 323-5300 or (800) 932-8758 ext. 5300.
