Bismarck Region of Sanford Health receives another top honor for heart care
(Bismarck, N.D.)—Weeks after receiving the Bronze Quality Achievement award from Mission:Lifeline, Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck has received another top honor for heart care.
The Bismarck region of Sanford Health recently received the American College of Cardiology Foundation’s NCDR ACTION Registry–GWTG Silver Performance Achievement Award for 2013 – one of only 130 hospitals nationwide to do so. The award recognizes Sanford Health’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients.
To receive this award, the Bismarck region of Sanford Health consistently followed the treatment guidelines in ACTION Registry–GWTG for 4 consecutive quarters and met a performance standard of 90% for specific performance measures.
“The criteria set by the American College of Cardiology are tough and require a lot of dedication from all disciplines throughout the hospital,” said Noelle Riehl, STEMI coordinator in Bismarck. “This award, along with our other honor, shows how dedicated our entire team is to providing the best cardiac care to the patients we serve.”
The Sioux Falls region of Sanford Health received platinum status this year and Sanford Health in Fargo received silver status. As Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck has only been tracking these measures through its STEMI program for a year, the silver award was the highest it could receive. As it collects more data, the medical center will be eligible for the next level in 2014.
