News releasesFeb. 25, 2013printer friendly Sanford Health general surgeon receives certification(Bismarck, N.D.)—Sanford Health Dickinson Clinic’s Brook Nelson, MD, general surgeon, recently completed her board certification with The American Board of Surgery. Certification in general surgery is an intensive process that requires the completion of an oral and written examination. Not all surgeons are board-certified. Board certification is voluntary and reflects a surgeon’s commitment to quality patient care. Dr. Nelson, the only female surgeon residing in western North Dakota, joined Sanford Health Dickinson Clinic in 2012. She is currently the only surgeon in western North Dakota to perform single-incision laparoscopic surgery.
