About us

Sanford Health Sunset Drive Continuing Care Center is an integral part of Sanford Health and has provided quality care to area skilled nursing residents since 1990. The Sanford Health Continuing Care Center built a new facility that was completed in December 2008 and was designed with the future in mind.

The facility consists of four 32-bed neighborhoods. Privacy and dignity are accommodated with 120 private rooms and four double rooms. All rooms are wired for high-speed Internet and cable television and have independent heating and cooling controls. Spacious common areas provide families and residents inviting areas for events and visiting.

Administrator
Wade Peterson has been the administrator of the facility since 1998. He began caring for the elderly and chronically ill in 1989 and has been a licensed administrator since 1992. Peterson has been elected to three terms and is currently serving on the American Health Care Association (AHCA) Board of Governors. He is active in the AHCA life safety committee. He has a bachelor's degree from Minot State University and a master's in business administration (MBA) from the University of Mary in Bismarck.

Pastoral care

The pastoral care department supports the religious, spiritual and emotional needs of the community which includes residents, family members and staff. This is met through thoughtful and meaningful visits, worship services, group activities, Bible studies, memorial services, bereavement ceremonies and staff educational in-service opportunities. The chaplain walks alongside the residents on life’s journey. As needed, the chaplain coordinates with local clergy to provide worship services, specific sacramental ministries and rituals.

• Lutheran Communion: 2:30 p.m. second Wednesday of the month

• Bible study: 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (September thru May)
• Hymns and devotions: 10:15 a.m. Friday (except the first one each month)
• Rosary: 3:30 p.m. Friday
• Memorial Service: 10:15 a.m. first Friday of the month
• "Chicken Soup for the Soul" stories: Monthly (as scheduled)
