A specimen collected from a fasting patient on bed rest is best. Specimen should be placed on ice immediately after collection. Centrifuge within 15 minutes. Once the sample is spun, remove the plasma from the cells. |
| Note: | Specimen is stable for 48 hours after removed from the cells. When using a 2mL collection tube, 1mL of blood is the minimum volume required. |
