Diabetes management

The Sanford Diabetes Center team in Bismarck believes that excellence in diabetes management can only be achieved when the person with diabetes, family members and/or significant others partner with a skilled health care team to develop an individualized plan of care.

Our program is designed to help all persons living with diabetes learn how to control and manage their diabetes. We use the most current teaching techniques for diabetes management.

The basic elements to control diabetes are:

  • Partnership
  • Education
  • Meal planning
  • Physical activity
  • Medication
  • Self-monitoring blood glucose

Education opportunities

  • Type I diabetes clinic for children, adolescents and families
  • Diabetes management classes for all ages
  • Diabetes support group
  • Individualized inpatient and outpatient diabetes management counseling available by appointment
  • Scholarships and assistance available through application
